My babysitting technique usually involves two things - chocolate and dressing up children like play toys - and is determined, more or less, by the camera I happen to be packing.

Today was more Cinderella than Cadbury. And a picnic was planned. I carried the D70. I’ve had it for several years now and have been hauling it around to the homes of family and friends a lot lately. It’s pretty light weight and the world wont end if little fingers spill their kool-aid on it. Also, there’s something really warm and film-like about the image quality that I quite like.

Not saying she didn’t appreciate the flowers. Just saying she didn’t quite know how to deal with all the attention. Looks like this little lady is in no danger of becoming a diva anytime soon. Grain of salt darling. That’s how she takes her celebrity.

Ridiculously busy the last few weeks. I’ve moved houses, injured myself in a way I refuse to talk about, and had my identity stolen. That’s just a few of the high lights.
Last night my sister writes me to tell me her six year old has taken on an English accent and is getting quite good at impersonating my husband. I asked if she could imitate that face he makes too - but she had to hang up before she answered. Her youngest was being attacked by dinosaurs.

The photos of the day were taken at a family get together a few months back. A terribly handsome young lad (Not the one being eaten by dinosaurs) I like to call ‘G’. His likes are Timberland Boots, his daddy, and Beyonce. In no particular order.

Clearly we have a muse. Or two. We bribe them with chocolate and cookies and they make our portfolio look pretty. Note: Chocolate and cookies and sugar in general are great for getting excellent action shots. We find it works best with girls. On boys, it just tends to send them over the edge. At least it did with their brother. Who was busy running circles around the studio lights and throwing sticks at the sun.

Before you think I’ve given over to papping Pinnochio, we actually went on holiday with this particular family in order to photograph the event. The photos turned out so great we’ve used several of them in our marketing materials and have even decided to design a sample ‘Family Album’ (A less formal version of our wedding albums) with the images.

Last October I went trick-or-treating for the first time in twenty years. Oh yes. With two little ballerina cats and a mini hunter. Afterwards we dined on pizza instead of sugary goodness.
